Promise and Hope is mandated to uplift impoverished Christian minority children of Pakistan, who are desperate to put efforts behind their dreams, re-defined their destiny through education and competitive opportunities.
There is less crime among the literate, more educational advancement and better opportunities for success” said Barbara Bush, former First Lady of the United States.
Education is the backbone of a successful society. Every human being should have the right, privilege, and opportunity to get the best education possible. Those of us who can read and write, would vouch for miraculous potential of being able to read and write as well as see illiteracy a dominating disabler to the fullness of life.
Promise and Hope committed to cater 500 new admissions, each year ever since 2015. Over the past five years, we have supported most deserving children, including orphans, above 2500 new admissions. We have 98% success rate for children completing their schooling in Pakistan. A minimal 2% dropout rate is noticed due to relocation of pupils’ families, who are often tenants and are engaged as menial day labors, sometimes are forced to migrate because of economic reasons, maneuver between rural and urban centers.
Promise and Hope works through local partners in Pakistan; preferably with school administration, enroll students and cater their schooling needs, directly.
However, in some cases the organization implements schooling through likeminded sister organizations, contracting them for special cases of school children, who are orphans or headed by single parent, especially mothers. In some instances, children are being supported on compassionate grounds to pursue schooling if parents are battling a prolonged illness.
Over the past five years, the organization has supported 2449 children in education. Presently, Promise and Hope is supporting 1346 girls and 1104 boys, in various grades up to 10th grade school in formal schooling in Pakistan.
Aden Ijaz (13 years of age) is one of the lucky survivor of Church blast in Peshawar, who was attending Sunday School at the time, when two suicide bombers entered the Church premises on 22 September 2013. Back then Aden was 7 years old, when he sustained critical injuries due to the blast and was forced to abandon his schooling. He was operated number of times and had to spend months in bed to recover, thus there was enormous financial loss and emotional trauma Aden and his family went through.
In early 2015 Promise and Hope field coordinator on this out-reach visit, came across Aden who was recovering from injuries, but was not attending school.Realizing that Aden’s family was facing acute financial constrains as his father was also on medication, undergoing a prolong illness of brain-tumor and never had any regular income source. Promise and Hope shared the love of God and readmitted Aden in the local school to continue his education.
With the passage of time, Aden proved to be an intelligent student, who now is studying in 7th grade. Just like his class mates, Aden is a happy child who has recovered from suicide bomb blast trauma with all out consistent support from Promise and Hope and can live a purposeful childhood.
Promise and Hope is practically supporting, orphans and children who face critical financial constraints and fail to continue their education among Christian communities across Pakistan.
